The renovation of the apartment, originally designed by José Antonio Corrales and Antonio Cavero between 1974 and 1978, was guided by a deep respect for Corrales’ architectural philosophy.

His emphasis on “specific architecture,” which adapts to the unique conditions of each project, has been reinterpreted with a contemporary twist. Rather than locking each space into a rigid function, we prioritized flexibility and adaptability, creating a living environment that responds to the evolving needs of its occupants.
The building itself, designed as a visual screen separat ing Orgaz from the city, features a terraced structure with luxury apartments, semi-penthouses, and duplex penthouses with private pools. These layers retreat toward the gardens, forming a dynamic fagade that balances monumental presence with functional design. Corrales’ use of humble yet expressive materials such as light brick and lacquered steel, established a dialogue between simplicity and strength, which we sought to preserve in the renovation.

By combining Corrales’ commitment to contextual specificity with a modern focus on flexibility, this renovation embraces both the original vision and contemporary living needs. The central cube and ver- satile fumiture reflect Corrales’ “expressive functional cubism,” offering a coherent yet adaptable design that honors his legacy while meeting the demands of mod- ern family life. project that honors his legacy while updating it for modern living.
